Workshop takes place Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 4pm - 5:30pm PT / 7pm - 8:30pm ET
Take a moment in the middle of the holiday frazzle to reconnect with the experience of our ancestors. So many of our current holidays can be traced back to annual observances of the patterns of the earth and sky. From Stonehenge to Egyptian temples, learn how cultures around the world celebrate this season and how to use these traditions to explain the rhythm of the seasons to a general audience. With engaging questions and simple materials you can find at home, we will create models and tell stories that engage learners of all ages.
This workshop is 1 hour long with an additional 30 minutes for asking questions and sharing ideas.
Participants will gain the following through participation in the workshop:
- An understanding of the changing seasons and how they have been observed over time
- Clear demonstrations of ways to share these ideas with a general audience
- Resource links to learn more and review activities and related books
- Access to astronomy experts who will facilitate the workshop and answer questions
- A certificate of completion for participating in two clock hours of professional development.
